Living on Mars brings you closer to Earth

I wondered if kids who grew up on Mars would be curious about Earth? In a way, it's asking if any of us are curious about our past, about where we come from. The way I choose to ask this is by offering regression into past lives as a way to connect to a distant history that you may or may not consider your own.

It's time travel without the time travel. You ride someone consciousness, someone who you once were in a past existence. You see things through their eyes, you have access to their thoughts and memories, to their emotions. You're breaking into a very personal vault and learning from the experience.

It makes sense to me that living on Mars would make you consider alternatives since it would most likely be a fairly restrictive existence. A little like living on an aircraft carrier for your whole life…

Regressing into a past life sounds like a blast! Like a ride you take at a theme park.

I suppose it would be like spying on someone but since it's a past life, the person is already dead so I don't see any harm in it. Also, it's supposed to be your own life too, in a way, so if anything you're spying on yourself.

I might be scared to be stuck there, though. I'd need some kind of fail safe, a trigger or something that I could snap to pull me back out. If there's someone else who has to pull me out, I'd need to trust that person a lot to go through with it.

Very intriguing.

There is no finish line

When it comes to improving the site, the journey is only beginning and, to be fair, is unlikely to end anytime soon. Let me know what you would like to see, what you don't like right now, what works well, what doesn't. This platform is for you, so it's up to you to ask for what you want.

My team and I will do everything we can to build what you need. The best ideas will likely come from conversations like these where you brainstorm and ask for features and content we might not have thought of. We'll also suggest ideas of our own to let you react to them.

Together, we can nurture the Malakai World and make it better every day.

Let's begin, shall we?

What's in a name?

What makes a good character name? I'd love to hear your thoughts about the importance of nailing a character's name just right. Let's hear about tips and tricks to come up with a great name, where inspiration comes from. Personally, I listen to the musicality and the sound of a name and I try to translate that sound into action to see if it fits the character. What about you?

I like a character's name to mean something, even if it's a hidden meaning, like from another language. I feel it adds weight to a character if they have a name with some kind of background or history. It makes them special.

I also like names that don't give away the gender of the character. It creates ambiguity, always fun to read and write.

On here, I found lots of cool character names, like Triskel Garnac (lots of Celtic in there) or Tenebra Qasim (love the link to black culture in the name). I'll get to creating my own real soon!
