In the near future, some humans are born with fully synthetic organs caused by a new gene.
Sentient AI robots have now joined societies and seek out these organs to blend with their electronic bodies.
The most powerful of these robots wants to be the first to implant itself with a fully synthetic human brain.
But the boy whose brain he wants doesn't quite see things the same way.
