Steampunk is cool. Jules Verne cool.
Thing is, throw steampunk into the future and you get a weird mix of retro sci-fi and mechanical pandemonium. Add in a little Celtic druid element and the world just builds itself, really.
I associate steampunk with mech tech, gears, clockwork, those kinds of things. I like to think of it as a very analog world, where things grind and interact with friction. What do you think is the essence of steampunk?
I also have a mystical vibe when I think of the genre. There's something not quite real yet wholeheartedly realistic about the steampunk ethos, a kind of magic that makes sense.
Let me know what you perception of steampunk is - what kind of hats do people wear in such a world? Is magic accepted or suspected? Are airships the best and only way to fly?
How about it?
